KYOKUSHINKAI KARATE RULES

The schedule of competitors by age groups

 

Competitors enter into III. age group for Children:

on the first day of January following the year they became 6 years old(2009-2008)

Competitors enter into II. age group for Children:

on the first day of January following the year they became 8 years old(2007-2006)

Competitors enter into I. age group for Children

on the first day of January following the year they became 10 years old(2005 – 2004)

Competitors enter into the age group of Adolescents:

on the first day of January following the year they became 12 years old(2003-2002)

Competitors enter into the age group of Youth:

YDon the first day of January following the year they became 14 years old(2001-2000)

Competitors enter into the age group of Junior

on the first day of January following the year they became 16 years old(1999-1998)

Competitors enter into the age group of Adults:    

on the first day of January following the year they became 18 years old.

Competitors of the Adult Junior age group (from U-19 to U-25):

after entering the age group of Adults, but only until turning 25 years old.

 

Remark: in case the number of competitors andtoo much weightdifference betweengroupsis justified, then the two year interval between Children age groups can be modified to a one year interval by the organizer of the competition, in agreement with the senior judge.

Regarding the age group of Adults, in order to ensure the after-growth of the category, it is possible to highlight separate age groups from U-19 to U-25. These age groups may be created, in order to provide chance to the competitors of these age groups to catch up with the international forefront, paying particular attention to the protection of their health and physical integrity.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Competition area

The competition area measures 8 m x 8 m.

Competitors

 

2 competitors,1 with blue protection (chong)

                     1 with red protection  (hong)

Duration

 

Kadets M & F, Juniors/Seniors Female: 1 non-stop round of 2 minutes

Juniors/Seniors Male: 1 non-stop round of 3 minutes

Coach

There is one coach per competitor allowed on the competition area

Winner/loser

 

Decision for winning is made by minimum 2 judges in the corner

- 3 judges in the corner of the competition area

- 1 Head referee leading the competition and can not give the points

Match score

 

Points during the competition will be published. At the end of the competition the central judges will announce the winner of the game.

Direct elimination

 

The sparring competition is a competition with direct elimination ! So the winner goes to the next round and the loser has to quits the competition.

COMPETITOR’S RESPONSIBILITY

1. Competitors can participate at own risk !

   Every competitor needs a private insurance or federation insurance.

    For the category of YOUNGER CADETS are determinated adapted rules without kicking or  

    punching in the head.

2. Competitors are also required to wear their appropriate belt to signify their proper rank

   All Dangrades should bring a copy of their dan-certificate !

3. Competitors are required to wear a dobok (Hapkido uniform) while competing. 

   Uniforms must be clean, not torn and worn at all times during their performance. 

   Removal of uniform top, pants or belt is not permitted during performance. T-shirts   

   under the uniform are not allowed only for the female competitors.

4. The medal ceremony will not take place when the competitor is not in uniform (dobok) 

   or in club (scohool or academy) / federation training suit.

5. All uniforms and equipment may not be insulting, vulgar or offensive as deemed by the

   Tournament Officials.

6. Every kind of jewellery (watches, bracelets, piercings, earrings, etc.)worn is prohibited !

7. Finger and toe nails must be kept neat and trimmed !

PROTECTION EQUIPMENT

Every competitor has to bring his own protection equipment !

1. OBLIGATED protection

Head protector

in soft quality, no hard parts and the front side should be open from chin to eyebrow (Taekwondo style) only blue or red colour alowed

Chest protection

Hoogoo – (Taekwondo style) blue or red are alowed

Groin protection

Prepare for marital arts

Underarm protection

Only underarm (not eleow and uper arm)

Shin protection

Football style are not allowed

SECURITY CHECK

At least 5 minutes before the start of the match the competitor has to pass the security check at the competition area entrance. The referee will check the equipment (protection) a second time before the beginning of the game. When the referee decides that the protection worn by the competitor is not safe he can decide to change that part of the equipment.

SCORING TECHNIQUES

1. Punching & striking techniques (chireugi)

1 point

Only punching with a fist in a proper manner is permitted(punch with two first knockles of the fist, from any direction). All other kinds of striking and punching are prohibited !

Punching is only permitted in the middle section, on the front and the side of the hogu (chest protector) ! No back fist !

Punching is only permitted in a fight when both competitors are fighting in a standing way. It's forbidden to punch when one of both is on the ground.

3. Joint locks & arm bars (keokki)

All joint locks and arm bars on wrists, arms and legs are permitted. Joint locks have to be

done within 5 seconds after grabbing the opponent. With this techniques You can earn the points only in the stand up. After the ground technique this can use only for surrender – no points.

4. Throwing & take downs (tonjigi)

2 points

All throwing & take down techniques are permited. A throw has to be done within 5 seconds after grabbing the opponent. Choking is only allowed during a ground fight. Technique after the throwing is NO POINT ad up.

5. Clinching

No points

Clinching is when the 2 opponents have close contact by grabbing with minimum one (1) hand. When both competitors start clinching they can only perform a throw, take down, an arm bar or a joint lock on arms or legs, all striking, punching or kicking techniques are forbidden !

Clinching time is maximum 5 seconds. No punching or kicking on the floor. On the floor competitors have 5 seconds to execute the arm bars, joint locks or choking technique and have 3 seconds additional to opponent disqualification by surrender. Surrender is if the opponent tapping or say STOP.

FORBIDDEN OR ILLEGAL TECHNIQUES

1. Attacks to the groin or legs under the belt (from knee to hip).

2. Strikes with open hand or elbow on any place of the opponents body.

3. No back fists !

4. No attack with the knee

5. No handattack in the face

6. No punching or kicking when the opponent is on the floor

7. No punching or kicking during clinching

8. No head buts !

9. Kicks to low section 2 ! (under the belt from knee to hip).

10. Threats of attacks as above (no contact)

11. Turning the opponents`body with a legbar to break his back and atacking the spine!

12. Unsport manner of trainer or competitor

13. Exit from the competiton area (tatami 8x8 m) with both feet

For every forbidden or illegal techniques can be given warning (half penalty point) or full penalty point. After 4 penalty points or 8 warnings per one competitor, judge stops the match and the other competitor anounce as winner.

SPECIAL REMARKS

Overly aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated !

In that case the referee can decide to end the competition game.

In the case that any matters not specified in the Rules occur, they shall be decided through consensus by the refereeing officials of the pertinent game.

WARNING:

Competitors can fight in the age group in this year in which they reach a certain age limityear of birth, and not by the date of birth

AWARDS

There will be a medal for the first 3 competitors of each category or division.

A gold medal for the first place, a silver medal for the second place and a two bronze medal for the third place.

 

No divisions by age or grade only by gender (men and women of all ages are separeted in the men and women category) !

This part of the competition consists of only 1 round with only 1 general champion in each category!

 

BREAKING BY QUANTITY

At the breaking by quantity contest the competitor has to break wooden boards with one of 4 (four) diferent techniques. Competitor can choose the technique.

The 15 (fiftheen) boards are placed on the floor with 1 cm (one cemtimeter) distance between the boards.

A referee will counting the number of the broken wooden boards!

As the competitor starts with a KIAP (yell) the referee will start counting as the competitor attempts to break the boards.
