Ash McKee
Chief
Instructor for Junsei Ryu Hoshin Jutsu is Dr Ash McKee. Ash Sensei has over 30
years experience in Ju Jitsu, and close to 20 years experience in teaching Ju
Jitsu to a vast variety of individuals.
Ash Sensei was born in April 1969, and started his
training under his father in 1976, whom foundered the ‘Hankyo Kempo Ju Jitsu’
dojo. Ash Sensei took his first grading as a young boy in March 78, a day he’ll
never forget! He made steady progression
through the grading system, where he finally attained Sho Dan under Soke R
Clark of the WJJF, and started the long road through the Dan Grades. Ash Sensei
was one of R Clarks youngest ever Yon Dan grades, and was invited onto the WJJF
technical board as a technical officer, again the youngest to do so. This was
in recognition of his attention to detail, and dedication to the art of ju
jitsu. Throughout this period he remained close to Soke Clark, and his father
Brian Wrightson, whom had split away and joined the WKF under Soke Richard
Morris. Ash Sensei joined his father in developing Hankyo Kempo, and also
started developing the concept of Junsei Ryu as an umbrella to Hankyo. For his
efforts in Junsei Kancho Brian Wrightson 8th Dan awarded Ash Sensei Go Dan, and
in July 2004 Roku Dan. He also awarded Ash Sensei the teaching title Shihan in
2003.
Ash Sensei has recently been approved and accepted by
the All Japan Ju Jitsu Federation, (AJJIF), as a Shihan, Founder of Junsei Ryu
style of Ju Jitsu, and had his grade of Rokudan ratified. He has also been
appointed a UK Board Director of the International Martial Arts Association UK,
(IMAA-UK).
Junsei
Ryu Hoshin Jutsu translates as 'The pure/genuine methods of the art of self
defense'. Junsei is an organisation borne out of the necessity for more
traditional methodology that is currently and increasingly being missed, and/or
ignored by modern Ju Jitsu systems in the place of grappling.
Junsei’s
objective is to preserve, protect and promote disappearing traditional and
combative Ju Jitsu. The organisation strives to establish support, development,
friendship, mutual cooperation, growth, education, and promotion of traditional
and combat Ju Jitsu throughout the UK and beyond. Junsei also recognize and
register all different styles and families of Ju Jitsu, as well as establishing
Ju Jitsu seminars and training camps. Junsei Ryu supports the international Ju
Jitsu community, through the means of our structure, schools, dojos and clubs. And
lastly Junsei Ryu recognize, support and register international Ju Jitsu
teachers and students by recognizing their skills, and knowledge based on the
International Recognition System of Membership and Rank Validation, Recognition
and Promotion.
Junsei
grades on a modern system, embracing the fact that westerners need a goal to
measure progress and skill development. Like many other Ju Jitsu systems in
Junsei a student starts as a beginner, (White Belt), and progresses through
increasingly more demanding techniques, until they are in a position to try for
Shodan, (Black Belt). This process can take on average around 8 years. Junsei
is not a certificate mill, and will only award/recognise grade based on
ability, determination and spirit and time in grade.
Junsei’s
Mon emblem embraces the wisdom of 'Happo No Kamae', eight directions of defense
and attack, also representing eight circles of attainment and knowledge, gained
through progress through the grading system. Starting with the outer most
circle and working inwards towards true self, the inner most circle, which
Junsei, acknowledge as the true beginning, Black Belt Shodan.
Dr Ash McKee MBA, started Ju Jitsu training at the age
of six, and progressed through the junior ranks and senior ranks over a period
of 30 years. Achievements and qualifications are listed below.
